Transitional Independent Living Programs

Most Transitional Independent Living programs are designed for 18-24 year olds needing a safe, supportive environment as they transition into adulthood.

Many offer access to 12-step programs and may have a psychiatric/dual diagnosis component as well. They offer educational programs, are hooked into the local community college, or provide schooling at the site.

Volunteering, employment, community service and reintegration into the general community can be major program components.

Many programs operate on a home-based residential model and can transition the young adult to a community-based independent living apartment model after they have demonstrated their ability to remain responsible.
